Error Message: "Unable to save video to gallery" or "There was a problem saving your video"

How to resolve issues saving videos

If you have any issues saving videos you will most likely see one of these error messages:

"There was a problem saving your video. This could be gallery access permissions, storage limits or another issue. Please contact support@videomyjob.com if this problem persists"

"Unable to save video to gallery. Please check that you have enough free disk space, and you have adequate internet connectivity"

"Unable to save all assets from the inbox message."

The three most common causes for this error

Issue 1:
The app does not have the required permission to access your phone's gallery - or - you are on an old app version that is using old permissions
Issue 2: You do not have enough storage space
Issue 3: Your company has security restrictions on your device preventing it from saving to your gallery

Solutions

Issue 1: The app does not have the required permission to access your phone's gallery

VideoMyJob requires permission to access your phone's gallery to open and save videos.

Follow the below instructions for Android and iPhone to manage your app permissions

Android

  • Open the Settings app .
  • Tap Apps
  • Tap the app you want to update (VideoMyJob or VideoMyTalent)
  • Tap Permissions.
  • Tap Files and media and choose "Allow access to media only"

iPhone and iPad

  • Launch the Settings app from your Home screen.
  • Tap Privacy.
  • Tap the Photos app to view which apps can access it.
  • Click on the VideoMyJob app.
  • Choose the option: "Allow Photos Access - All Photos".

Depending on your operating system version the above instructions may be different. If so then try using google to find out how to update your app permissions.

Make sure you're on the latest app version

Issue 2: You do not have enough storage space

Check your phone's storage. We recommend having at least 2GB of free space so try deleting any old apps you don't need, storing old photos and videos in the cloud, or deleting any old VideoMyJob projects you no longer need.

Make sure you don't need the project files anymore as you will not be able to re-edit the video if you delete these.

Issue 3: Your company has security restrictions on your device preventing it from saving to your gallery

This is very similar to Issue 1 however you will need to speak to your company IT department to assist in granting you the required permissions.
